The history of Vitacchio family as wine producers began in 1921 when Giovanni Vitacchio bought the terrains, the house and the cellar of the present winery.
At that time Giovanni Vitacchio started growing grapevine and trading bulk wine in local taverns where a glass of wine was the only beverage available.
In the 60’s Guerrino Vitacchio, son of Giovanni, took the place of his father and, together with his sons they renovated the vineyards and they started to bottle Vespaiolo, Cabernet and Pinot Bianco.
In 1969 Vitacchio company was one of the first vinery adhering to the policy document of Breganze DOC (its registration number is in fact the no. 4).
Emilio Vitacchio, the present owner, followed to his father Guerrino. He marked a turning point to wines production exclusively aiming to quality demonstrating it by obtaining various recognitions in exhibitions and competitions.
Tireless vineyard worker and capable winemaker he has devoted his life to Torcolato working very hard on every step from cultivation, through vine production till vine promotion. All his efforts were rewarded by the recognition of DOC area for Torcolato in 1995.
In 2002 (vedi precedente testo) Emilio founded, together with other producers, “La Magnifica Fraglia del Torcolato Doc di Breganze” an association composed by producers and VIP people belonging to cultural and local business activities who commit themselves to promote and spread in Italy and all over the world Torcolato, this unique and amazing wine only produced in this region.
He also made a lot of effort in preserving and promoting ancient grape varieties of Breganze area such as Marzemina Bianca, Refosco and Groppello otherwise destined to extinction.
Emilio works together with his son Massimo who became Sommelier in 2004. Massimo, thanks to his constant innovation desire, is leading the company through a new way of thinking based on two principles: the first one is less quantity for a better quality production; the second one is quality originates from vineyard, not from cellar.
